13 Yr Old Teenager Sexually Assaults 5 Yr Old Girl on School Bus

A 13-year-old teenager is accused of raping a 5-year-old girl while on a Jonesboro Public Schools bus.

The victim told an Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children investigator the suspect “touched her private area with his finger then showed her his privates while on the bus” to school, according to the initial incident report.

On Monday afternoon, Kenny Oldham, a Jonesboro police detective, interviewed the suspect. The boy’s father, according to the report, was present and consented to the interview.

Oldham said the suspect admitted to putting his hand inside the victim’s underwear and touching her.

The suspect “said he knew she had a crush on him” and told him she felt “funny down there,” the report stated.

Oldham released the suspect into the custody of his parents and advised them the boy could not ride the bus to school pending the outcome of the investigation. Both parents agreed.

The suspect’s cell phone and computer have been submitted into evidence to be processed by the Internet Crimes Against Children laboratory.

The case is closed pending the ICAC lab investigation.

Jonesboro Public School’s Superintendent Kim Wilbanks explained the boy was on 1 of the buses with mixed ages because he and the other students live far out in the district.

Most students ride a bus with children their own age but they do have a handful of buses that cannot operate that way.

She could not discuss more on the investigation but did release this statement:

“Jonesboro Public Schools is currently investigating an alleged incident of one student inappropriately touching another student while on the school bus. This matter has been reported to law enforcement. The district has no tolerance for behavior that puts the safety and well-being of our students at risk.”

Wilbanks said the boy was not at school Friday and disciplinary action is being discussed.
