7 Year Old Boy Finds $8,000 In Massachusetts Park, Turns It In

Aiden, a 7-year-old from Salem, MA, was playing on the slide one Saturday with his uncle Danny. Then he hit the jackpot!

“I ran up the slide, and at the top I looked in the corner and there was this black check book, and I opened it up and I saw $8,000 in it, and I brought it back down to my uncle,” Aiden told WBZ.

Next, he and his uncle did what a lot of people wouldn’t : they brought the fortune to the police instead of keeping it. The rightful owner, a contractor named Elias Santos was relieved.

Santos had been playing with his own kids in the park on payday. His money fell out of his pocket and he left the playground before even noticing the money was gone.

“When the police called me I was so surprised,” said Santos who reported the missing money. “I am so grateful because we don’t have people like this no more,” he added.

Aiden attributes his doing the right thing to learning the Golden Rule in Sunday School.

“Treat other people the way you want to be treated,” Aiden says. We couldn’t agree more. Do you live by the Golden Rule?
