The story of one pilot’s incredible kindness to a family in their hour of need is going viral after he quite literally turned a plane around for them.
An unnamed couple boarded their flight from Manchester, UK, heading to Abu Dhabi when they received a text message saying that their grandson was in intensive care.
Hearing the tragic news the pilot turned the plane, which was taxiing towards the runway, around immediately and returned to the gate so the couple could leave the plane.
The grateful couple rushed to their grandson’s bedside and he died later that same night.
Their travel agent, Becky Stephenson, said, “I’ve been in the travel business for 25 years and never heard of this happening.”
She praised the Etihad Airways pilot for “going above and beyond with their customer service” and added, “My customers were so grateful that staff were very helpful and they were taken care of.”
“I’m just really grateful that my customers could get back to see him.”
The flight went ahead as scheduled after they left and the couple have also been told they can use their ticket again on a different date.
