ABC News reports on the 911 call of a frantic father who left one important item in his car before boarding the train to work:
“‘I left my 1-year-old baby in my SUV by accident this morning,’ the father said to a 911 dispatcher. ‘I am on my way back to the station now.’”
Luckily, the little, baby girl was rescued without harm. However, this is a scenario that plays out all too often. According to the father, who wished to remain anonymous:
“I had what I thought was a safe-guard procedure against this in place that I neglected to use today. Obviously, we will be doing more to prevent this going forward.”
Recently, a 16-month-old Florida girl died after being left in a car when her father forgot to drop her off at daycare before going to work.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 25 children die each year due to being locked in vehicles. Since 1998, there have been 637 such deaths in the United States alone.
