The skeletal remains of a man said to have been missing for 20 years have turned up inside his elderly mother’s home Brooklyn, New York. A relative is reported to have made the discovery.
The former livery cab driver, whose name has not yet been released, would have turned 51 this week. When last seen, he had been living with his mother in her brick house on a quiet street in the Midwood neighborhood.
After the missing man’s mother fell last week and required hospitalization, a relative stopped by the house to gather items to bring to her in the hospital. The relative then came across the rotting skeleton up in the attic.
Early reports indicate that the deceased may have been terminally ill and died of natural causes. No trauma seemed evident, and foul play is not suspected. The city Medical Examiner is working now to determine an official cause of death.
A neighbor described the mother as a “recluse,” telling the New York Daily News: “She never said hello… She would walk looking down. Something about her always seemed a little weird.”
