These Happy Grandparents Just Welcomed Their 100th Grandchild…

Leo and Ruth Zanger are celebrating the birth of their 100th grandchild with open arms and big smiles.

With the addition of baby Jaxton Leo Zanger born on April 8, the Illinois couple now has 53 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Leo and Ruth have been married 59 years and have 12 kids together (pictured below). The oldest sibling is 58 and the youngest is 31.

As one might imagine, family gatherings require much more than a relative’s home. For Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter they have to rent a facility – often their church hall.

“When we get together, it’s big. It’s really big,” said Donna Lane, one of the 12 immediate children. “There are a lot of people – a lot of kids – but that’s what it’s all about. We always have a really good time.”

3Leo, at 79 years old, says there is no immediate end in sight with many of the younger families just beginning to settle down and get married.

“We just love them all and they’re all so precious,” Leo said. “Birth is a miracle and to have a new one is just a wonderful thing.”
