American county fairs have been at the forefront of culinary exploration for years, especially when it comes to deep-frying new types of foods. The Texas State Fair, the largest in the country, holds a yearly competition for the most innovative deep-fried delicacies. One especially delicious creation to come out of the fair were these uniquely battered and deep-fried Oreo cookies.
Learn how to make these tasty confections for yourself in the mouthwatering video below. You’ll run to your kitchen once you see how easy they are to create with items you might already have in your pantry.
I certainly know what I’m doing for a snack later!
You don’t need much to make these carnival favorites, aside from a large pot (or a deep fryer):
- 2 quarts of vegetable oil for frying.
- 1 large egg.
- 1 cup of milk.
- 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil.
- 1 cup of pancake mix.
- 1 18 ounce package of Oreos (or any other cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies).
Doesn’t that seem easy? Even I was able to make these, and I can barely boil water! Now I just have to figure out how to store them without eating every last one…
