Brace yourselves to have your heart melted: A baby pudu deer, the “World’s Smallest Deer Species” was born in Queens Zoo, New York.
According to Time, this adorable male baby was born May 12 in New York at only 6 inches tall and 6 inches long. The arrival of this little guy makes for three pudu deer at the zoo.This “vulnerable species”, as classified by the IUCN, are good runners and jumpers, and although shy, can “bark” when they feel intimidated by something. The pudu is native to South America. According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, this fawn is nursing but will soon transition to a hearty diet of fresh leaves, grain, kale, carrots and hay.
